Wear It, Live It

Wear It, Live It

Style Your Home Like You Style Your Closet

Start in Your Closet

When I’m styling a space—whether it’s a bedroom, living room, or an office I always pull inspiration from an unexpected place: the closet. Yup, your wardrobe can teach you so much about how to decorate your home.

Think about it. When you get dressed, you're choosing colors, patterns, textures, and silhouettes that speak to your vibe. You’re creating a look. This same exact concept applies to your space.

The Rule: Coordinate, Don’t Match

One of my go-to principles? Coordinate, don’t match. Let me break it down.

You ever see a cute patterned top while shopping, and it comes with matching pants, shoes, bag, and a hat—the whole shebang? Just because the store offers it as a “set” doesn’t mean you need to wear it all together. Same goes for your home.

Companies love to sell full furniture sets: the bed that matches the nightstand that matches the dresser. It’s easy, it’s safe, and it’s... basic. You end up with the same room as everyone else who hit “add to cart.”

Let’s be real—if you showed up to dinner and someone had on your exact outfit from head to toe? You'd be ready to change, right? Treat your home the same way.

Instead of buying everything from one collection, mix it up. A neutral velvet bed can sit beautifully next to a black nightstand and a brown dresser. It may sound intimidating at first, but trust me—this is where the magic happens.

Watch your Tone!

Just like what we talked about last week, it’s all about tones. When you understand tone and balance, you can mix colors, textures, and materials without making your space feel chaotic. It’ll feel layered, intentional, and elevated.

Of course, like with any outfit, there’s a limit. You don’t want to throw on every trend and color at once—and the same goes for your home. A thoughtful mix? That’s real style.
