Real Sisters

Real Sisters

I love a good mismatch — chairs in the dining room, nightstands in the bedroom, even accent pieces in the living area. There’s something about the irregularity that gives a space life. It makes you pause, question the “why” or “how,” and realize it was pulled off intentionally.

Sometimes the best design moments start from a mishap. Ever fallen in love with two chairs equally and couldn’t decide? Or had to improvise because something didn’t go as planned? Those happy accidents often lead to the most interesting results.

When mixing chairs, make sure they’re at least in the same family — first cousins or sisters. They don’t need to be twins, but they should share a similar detail, like color, shape, or material.

For tables, keep the heights consistent. The silhouettes can vary, but stick within the same tone family — that subtle variation adds character without creating chaos.

This is how you strike the perfect balance: different but cohesive, separate but connected.

Design that feels intentional — not uniform — is where the magic happens.
